...right now FC Naples and Westchester SC are basically living the same season. Naples enter the match talking about resilience, injuries, adversity, and performances that deserved better. Westchester could copy and paste most of that directly into their own press releases, especially after seeing their away scoring drought stretch to 412 minutes in Indiana despite long stretches of quality play.

Throughout their now 412-minute streak without a goal away from Memorial Field, Westchester SC has played prolonged stretches of quality soccer, but those four or five moments of greatness have eluded them.

On paper, it’s the kind of stat line that should produce a result. 55% possession. 10 corner kicks. More shots on target. Instead, it produced another zero.

That contrast has become the defining trait of this team. One night they can be overwhelmed. The next, they can outlast you. The question heading into Richmond isn’t whether Westchester are capable. It’s which version shows up.

Both clubs joined the league in 2025, but the paths have been very different. Portland benefitted from a two year runway and a region starving for professional sports, allowing them to build a strong fan base and identity early. That translated into a much stronger debut season than what Westchester experienced.

From the jump, Boise dictated everything. Westchester sat deep, couldn’t get out, and when the ball did turn over, there was no outlet, no release, no ability to turn defense into anything resembling attack.

This is a styles clash with a twist. Boise wants control. They’ve shown it in both of their recent matches. They’ll keep the ball, they’ll press, and they’ll try to pin you in until something breaks. When they’re at their best, you don’t get many clean looks. You spend long stretches chasing. But they’re not airtight.

The villain returns. A familiar friend comes home. And a club that learned the hard way last year gets another chance to write the ending.
